THE INFLUENCE OF THE DIPOLAR MOMENT AND DIELECTRIC CONSTANT OF PLASTICITY. APPLICATION TO THE PHYSIC-CHEMICAL BEHAVIOUR OF THE MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF THE SOILS

INFLUENCIA DEL MOMENTO DIPOLAR Y DE LA CONSTANTE DIELECTRICA EN LA PLASTICIDAD. APLICACION AL MECANISMO FISICO-QUIMICO DE LIS PROPIEDADES MECANICAS DE LOS SUELOS

IN AN ATTEMPT TO FIND OUT THE INFLUENCE OF THE SIZE AND SHAPE OF PARTICLES, OF THEIR NATURE, OF THE NATURE OF THE ASSOCIATED CATION AND ASSOCIATED LIQUID ON THE PLASTICITY OF WATER-CLAY SYSTEMS, A LARGE NUMBER OF MINERALS AND LIQUIDS HAVE BEEN TESTED, WITH THE OBJECT OF DEFINING GENERAL CONDITIONS APPLYING TO EACH CHARACTERISTIC. THE INITIAL HYPOTHESIS WAS THAT THE VALUES OF THE DIPOLAR MOMENT AND THE DIELECTRIC CONSTANT PLAY A LEADING ROLE IN INTERREACTIONS OCCURRING BETWEEN LIQUID AND THE CLAYEY PARTICLES WHICH AFFECT PLASTICITY.
