NOTES ON INTERSTITIAL PRESSURE

NOTA ACERCA DE LA PRESION INTERSTICIAL

AN EXTENSION OF THE STUDY OF THE DISTRIBUTION OF STRESSES AND PORE PRESSURE WITHIN A POROUS MATERIAL IS PRESENTED. THE PURPOSE IS TO ESTABLISH AN EASIER AND CLEARER PROCEDURE THAN THAT OF STAGG-ZIENKIEWICZ DESCRIBED IN HIS BOOK "ROCK MECHANICS". THE STRESSES OBTAINED IN A SOLID OR A STRUCTURE SUBJECT TO THE ACTION OF WATER OR ANOTHER FLUID, ARE THE SUM OF THE FOLLOWING: 1) "PASCALIAN" ACTION, WHICH RESULTS FROM CONSIDERING THE IMPERVIOUSNESS OF THE STRUCTURE OR SOLID STUDIED AT ITS INTERFACE WITH THE FLUID. 2) A HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE, THE VALUE OF WHICH IS THE PORE PRESSURE AT THE POINT CONSIDERED MULTIPLIED BY THE EFFECTIVE POROSITY (CEERTSMAN RATIO). 3) STRESSES DUE TO THERMAL ANALOGY, I.E. A TEMPERATURE RISE, AND 4) STRESSES DUE TO THE SATURATION WATER OR FLUID, WHICH ARE A FUNCTION OF THE WEIGHT.
