CONTROL OF DEBRIS PROJECTION AND EVENTUAL DAMAGES IN NEARBY CONSTRUCTIONS DUE TO THE EFFECTS OF TUNNEL BLASTING

CONTROL DE LA PROYECCION Y DANOS POSIBLES PRODUCIDOS EN CONSTRUCCIONES PROXIMAS POR LOS EFECTOS DE UNA VOLADURA EN TUNEL

THERE IS OFTEN NEED TO PERFORM BLASTING OPERATIONS SO THAT THE PROJECTION OF ROCK DEBRIS IS CONTAINED WITHIN CERTAIN LIMITS. THEREFORE THE MOST SUITABLE TYPE OF EXPLOSIVE HAS TO BE STUDIED TOGETHER WITH THE LOAD, KIND OF APPLICATION AND BLASTING PARAMETERS (MAXIMUM STONE SIZE, PRACTICAL STONE SIZE, BOTTOM LOAD, COLUMN, ETC.). THIS ARTICLE LISTS A NUMBER OF PRACTICAL FORMULAE WHICH TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE MODES AND PARAMETERS OF THE BLASTING. THE SEQUENCE OF WORK SHOULD BE AS FOLLOWS 1) DETERMINATION OF THE ROCK FACTOR CO, FROM A TEST BLASTING; 2) DETERMINATION OF MAXIMUM STONE SIZE FROM CO, THE DRILLING DIAMETER AND THE DEGREE OF STEMMING; 3) DETERMINATION OF THE PRACTICAL STONE SIZE; 4) CALCULATION OF THE SPECIFIC BOTTOM, MEDIUM AND COLUMN LOAD; 5) CALCULATION OF THE CARTRIDGE DIAMETER, ACCORDING TO THE DEGREE OF STEMMING AND TAKE DIAMETER; 6) CALCULATION OF THE BOTTOM AND COLUMN LOADS. A NUMBER OF TABLES ARE INCLUDED TO HELP WITH THE ABOVE CALCULATIONS.
