CEMENTATION'S POWERFLOT GIVES VIBROFLOTATION A SHOT IN THE ARM

THE ARTICLE DESCRIBES THE TECHNIQUE DEVELOPED BY CEMENTATION WHEREIN GROUND OF INADEQUATE BEARING CAPACITY IS STRENGTHENED BY FORMING A GRID OF COARSE GRANULAR VERTICAL COLUMNS IN THE SOIL. THE VIBRATING POKER IS CALLED VIBROFLOT. TO ACHIEVE THE DESIRED PENETRATION IN STIFFER SOILS, CEMENTATION HAS DEVELOPED THE POWERFLOT. IT HAS A HEAVY POKER & HAS A 228 HP POWER PACK PROVIDING HYDRAULIC PRESSURE TO FORCE THE POKER INTO THE GROUND. THE RIG IS MOUNTED ON A 22RB CRANE AND THE POWERPACK IS SITUATED BEHIND THE CAP ACTING AS A COUNTERWEIGHT. THE TECHNIQUE OF 'VIBROFLOTATION' CAN BE UP TO A THIRD CHEAPER PER SQUARE METRE THAN PILING AND IS QUICKER AND LESS NOISEY. IT ALSO AVOIDS SHARP STRESS CONCENTRATIONS AND REDUCES THE RISK OF SHEAR FAILURE DURING LATER CONSTRUCTION.
