STEEL FIBRES ARREST CRACKS IN CONCRETE

The development of and advantages to be gained from using fiber-reinforced concrete are discussed. Fibers are generally of low-carbon steel wire, supplied in a range of sizes from 0.25-0.50mm diameter and 25-50mm long; the fiber content generally does not exceed 4-5% and the mix varies according to application. Examples of Wirand wire reinforced concrete are given showing a range of properties compared with a standard concrete mix. /TRRL/
