METRIC CONVERSION AND CANADIAN SURVEYING

This paper presents a description of the International System of Units (SI) and makes comments on the planning and preparation for metric conversion. Various problems which might be encountered during metric conversion are discussed. The benefits to be derived from metric conversion are pointed out, and it is emphasized that the metric conversion process provides a unique opportunity to standardize and rationalize more rapidly than would otherwise occur.
