RECENT TRENDS IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF FLEXIBLE ROAD PAVEMENTS
The author discusses the advantages and disadvantages of frost blankets and general problems associated with the protection of roads against frost action. The use of plastic foil layers and porous heat insulating courses to protect roads against frost is described, and reference is made to experiments being carried out in the USA, Canada, Switzerland and Germany. Finally the author discusses the advantages of full depth asphalt construction. /TRRL/
