OXALIC ACID USED AS CEMENT ADMIXTURE

OXALSAEURE ALS ZEMENTZUSATZ

Test results show that the addition of oxalic acid to cement and cement and sand mortars modifies their characteristics. Two percent of cement weight is the optimum proportion of admixture. Setting acceleration caused by the acid remains within the limits recommended in specifications. The addition of oxalic acid increases strength markedly and decreases the loss of strength due to steam curing, especially if the latter is of long duration. It also increases the resistance of cement to acid attacks. /IRRD/
