HYDRATION OF PORTLAND CEMENT IMMEDIATELY AFTER MIXING

UEBER DIE HYDRATATION UON PORTLANDZEMENT SOFORT NACH DEM ANMACHEN

An attempt is made to find the cause of the emission of heat immediately after mixing by means of the calorimeter, determination of mixed water, differential thermal analysis and analysis of the solution inside the mortar paste. It was shown that certain types of etrringite formed from aluminate and aluminate-ferrite produce the greatest part of the heat; the hydration of anhydrous gypsum also plays a part in the production of heat. A quantitive estimation of the hydrates formed was made. /IRRD/
