NEW TEST METHODS FOR EVALUATING THE EFFICIENCY OF MIXERS USED TO MANUFACTURE CONCRETE AND MORTAR

NOVE METODY SKUSANIA TECHNOLOGICKEJ VHODNOSTI MIESACIEK NA VYROBU BETONOVEJ ZMESI A MALTY.

DETAILS ARE GIVEN OF A NEW METHOD OF CONTROLLING EFFICIENCY OF MIXERS AND DETERMINING THE MINIMUM MIXING TIME. THE CRITERION SELECTED TO TEST THE EFFICIENCY OF THE MIXER IS CEMENT DISTRISUTION. THE HOMOGENEITY OF THE MIXTURE IS MEASURED BY MEANS OF BETA RAYS USED ON SAMPLES TAKEN DURING MIXING. THE RESULTS OF MEASUREMENTS DEPEND ON THE PROPORTION OF THE INGREDIENTS AND THEIR CHEMICAL PROPERTIES, THIS IS WHY IT IS NECESSARY TO CALIBRATE THE APPARATUS WITH MATERIALS USED IN THE MANUFACTURE OF CONCRETE. THE ACCURACY OF THE MEASUREMENTS DEPENDS ON THE INGREDIENTS STUDIED, ACTIVITY OF THE SOURCE, MIXING TIME AND DRYNESS OF THE MIXTURE; MEASUREMENTS SHOULD BE TAKEN ON DRY, CONCRETE. THESE TESTS ENABLE THE SHAPE OF THE MIXERS BLADES TO BE IMPROVED AND THE MINIMUM MIXING TIME TO BE DETERMINED FOR EACH TYPE OF MIXER. THE USE OF GAMMA RAYS SHOULD FACILITATE THE TAKING OF MEASUREMENTS ON PLASTIC OR SOFT CONCRETE WITHOUT THE LATTER BEING IN A DRY CONDITION.
