PROBLEMS OF TORSION AND TRANSVERSE CONTINUITY IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF BRIDGES AND CAISSONS

PROBLEMS RELATIFS A LA TROSION ET A LA CONTINUITE TRANSVERSALE DANS LA CONSTRUCTION DE PONTS ET CAISSONS

This article presents a mathematical analysis of a bridge consisting of a box girder joined to a cantilevered slab overlapping the girder on both sides. This type of prestressed concrete bridge is extensively used at the present time and usually, has spans exceeding 100M. Some of these bridges have a single box girder, others multiple box griders. A study is presented of torsional problems encountered in this type of bridge and of problems relating to multiple box girder bridges.
