POSSIBILITIES OF TAKING ACCOUNT OF VARIATIONS IN STRENGTH PROPERTIES OF CEMENT IN COMMERCIAL READY-MIXED CONCRETE PLANTS

MOEJLIGHETER ATT VID FABRIKSBETONGTILLVERKNING TA HAENSYN TILL VARIATIONER I CEMENTETS HAALLFASTHETSEGENSKAPER

The relation between the results of accelerated strength tests on concrete at the age of 1 day, in which the test specimens were boiled, and the strength of the concrete at the age of 28 days has been studied at two commercial ready- mixed concrete plants. This relation was found to be relatively close. An equally close correlation is obtained In ordinary strength tests on the concrete at the age of about 5 days. The correlation between the strength of the cement and the strength of the concrete at the age of 28 days is unsatisfactory. The author points out that it is not advisable to adjust the cement content in the concrete based on variations of the cement strength only, as the concrete strength is influenced by several other factors.
