CONTINOUS TRANSPORT OF EXCAVATED MATERIAL

KONTINUERLIG JORDFOERFLYTTNING

A DESCRIPTION IS GIVEN OF THE METHODS AND MACHINES USED FOR CONTINOUS TRANSPORT OF EXCAVATED MATERIAL. DIFFERENT TYPES OF CONTINOUS EXCAVATORS IN THE U.S. AND EUROPE ARE REVIEWED. MANY DIFFERENT TYPES ARE REPRESENTED IN THE U.S.,E.G. BUCKET WHEEL EXCAVATORS, MACHINES WITH SIDE MOUNTED CUTTING BLADES OR MACHINES WITH HELICOIDAL EXCAVATION DEVICES. MOST OF THE EUROPEAN MACHINES ARE BUCKET WHEEL EXCAVATORS WITH THE BUCKET WHEEL MOUNTED ON AN ARM. THE EXCAVATORS ARE EQUIPPED WITH CONVEYORS. IN CERTAIN CASES THE CONTINOUS EXCAVATORS CAN WORK QUITE INDEPENDENTLY OF OTHER EARTH-TRANSPORTATION MACHINES.
