MODAL DISTRIBUTION: STATISTICAL METHODS OF ANALYSIS

RIPARTIZIONE MODALE: TECNICHE STATISTIHE DI ANALISI

THIS ARTICLE OUTLINES THE THREE METHODS MOST WIDELY USED IN RECENT STUDIES FOR ANALYSING THE DISTRIBUTION OF URBAN PASSENGER MOVEMENTS BETWEEN THE VARIOUS MODES OF TRANSPORT. THE TECHNIQUES DESCRIBED ARE DISCRIMINANT ANALYSIS, PROBIT ANALYSIS AND LOGIT ANALYSIS. AN EXAMPLE IS GIVEN TO ILLUSTRATE A LOGIT MODEL, DEMONSTRATING ITS SIMPLICITY OF APPLICATION AND THE DEGREE OF APPROXIMATION TO REALITY, OBTAINABLE BY ITS USE.
