THE COMPACTION-RELATED QUANTITIES SUCH AS VOIDS CONTENT, DEGREE OF COMPACTION, STABILITY AND FLOW VALUE CAN BE DETERMINED BY MEANS OF EXPONENTIAL REGRESSION EQUATIONS. THE QUESTION IS RAISED AS TO HOW THE PARAMETERS BINDER CONTENT, PARTICLE COMPOSITION, TEMPERATURE ETC. AFFECT THE FACTORS OF THE EXPONENTIAL EQUATIONS. MARSHALL TESTS ARE NEEDED, IN WHICH ONE PARAMETER IS ALTERED WHILE THE OTHERS ARE KEPT CONSTANT. RESULTS WOULD NEED TO BE STUDIED BY MEANS OF STATISTICAL METHODS (FACTOR ANALYSIS, MULTIPLE CORRELATION) IN ORDER TO DETERMINE THE ORDER OF MAGNITUDE OF THE INFLUENCE OF THE VARIOUS PARAMETERS. FINALLY THE SAME TESTS WOULD HAVE TO BE CARRIED OUT IN PARACTICE DURING INCORPORATION WITH ROLLERS. FROM THESE WOULD RESULT FUNCTIONS FOR BULK DENSITY AND THE QUANTITIES DERIVED IN RELATION TO THE PASSES WITH THE ROLLER. HERE TOO THE EXPONENTIAL COMPACTION FUNCTION IS A STARTING POINT. BY USING THE RESULTS OF STUDIES SUCH AS THESE IT WOULD BE POSSIBLE TO AIM AT CONTROLLING CERTAIN PROPERTIES OF A MIXTURE DURING ITS COMPOSITION.
