Production platforms of the future will operate at great water depths. Because of this, there is a need to find out how sacrificial anodes operate under these conditions. Practical tests have been carried out in conditions which are similar to those experienced in the North Sea. Full details of the test rig anodes and monitoring equipment are given. Actual test results over a six month period are recorded. Results are compared with anode performance under low pressure shallow water conditions. From these results, the effectiveness of sacrificial anodes at increased water depth is predicted. (Author)
