ELECTRO-CHEMICAL CORROSION IN MARINE PROPELLERS

Though propeller bronzes are inherently resistant to corrosion by seawater, electrical processes due to the motion of a propeller may give rise to some electrochemical corrosion. This article briefly states the problem and how it is caused, and also suggests remedies in various types of shipboard situations. A brief discussion about the electrical connection between zinc anodes and sacrificial steel plates and the hull is also included in the article.
