Although basically of standard industrial types already well proven in service all the equipment described has been designed or provided with special features, to provide increased reliability and improved performance. To comply with the necessary safety requirements and to minimise damage in the event of an accident a "Yellow" shutdown system can shutdown production completely without affecting the generation, and a "Red" shutdown system is provided which can deenergise the complete platform. There is a comprehensive fire and gas monitoring system which can take local remedial action in addition to giving general alarm. The schemes are necessarily complicated, in that they involve so many items of equipment, and are also designed to minimise loss of production due to erroneous tripping.
