LATERAL LOAD CAPACITY OF PILES IN OFFSHORE STRUCTURES

Three types of interaction are taken into account in evaluating lateral load capacities of piles: interaction between pile and soil, between pile and jacket structure, and between wave and structure. These interactions are normally analyzed individually. The purpose of this paper is to show how these can be pieced together to form an anlysis of the whole problem. The procedure is illustrated with an example involving a fixed drilling platform in 350 ft of water. /Author/
