FOREIGN PORTS EXPANDING FACILITIES TO ACCOMMODATE SPECIALIZED SHIPS

Today's modern, specialized ships are causing many foreign ports to spend millions of dollars to build new and larger facilities to accommodate them. At Le Havre, France and Rotterdam, The Netherlands, complexes with deep waterways and oil storage tanks are being developed specifically to accommodate tankers of 500,000 dwt and larger. This report concerns the modernization of facilities at the following ports: Rotterdam; Marseilles-Fos; Le Havre; Antwerp; Bremen/Bremerhaven; Southampton; Liverpool; Montreal; Amsterdam; Hong Kong; Flexistowe; Halifax and Saint John.
