COMMERCIAL V/STOL SYSTEMS ANALYSIS BY AIRLINE SIMULATION

The increasing demand by the public for travel, together with the increasing congestion at air transport terminals, demands a vehicular system which will better serve the short-haul passenger while relieving congestion at medium to long-haul terminals. A V/STOL system now on the immediate horizon will answer the need. A total economic analysis of the system is presented. This analysis considers the interactions between Federal and local governments, the operators, the manufacturer, and the traveler. The basic tool employed is short-haul system simulation. This is a computerized simulation program derived from the Lockheed Airline System Simulation model. This program will be used to obtain results which are important to the profitability, procurement, and operation of a V/STOL short-haul system.
