MISSION ANALYSIS FOR GENERAL AVIATION IN THE 1970'S

General Aviation in the 1970's is expected to perform an increasingly important role in the national transportation system. The possible character of this role, as to missions, types of general aviation aircraft, and competition with other transportation modes, is the subject of this paper. Assessment is made of the relative attractiveness of individual transportation modes by use of a simplified economic descriptor, time-value. The transportation system is considered for the years 1968, 1975, and 1980. The impact of advancing technology is considered, along with such economic factors as fuel taxes.
