MULTIMODE ASSIGNMENT MODEL

The basic problem considered in this report is that of predicting the choices between transportation alternatives that will be made by intercity travellers in the Northeast Corridor. This report presents a description of a technique for performing such multimodal assignments among two or more transportation modes competing to satisfy a demand for transportation between a specified pair of cities or sub-regions. The model formulated here is similar to one which dealt successfully with the allocation of air-travel demand between service types and routes of competing air modes.
