IMPLICATION OF MECHANICAL SYSTEMS ON AIRPORT TERMINAL DESIGN

The prime objective of the paper is to delve into mechanical systems for people-movers, baggage-movers, coargo-movers-and explore the influence which these new devices may have on the design of major airports and air terminals. Major emphasis is placed on the aspect of moving people since this is where the greatest need appears to be required. The author proposes a definition of "Unacceptable Walking Distance" since this determines the transition to mechanical devices.
