The understanding of the basic principles of any industry is a pre-requisite to successful economic operations. This is particularly important in the dredge industry which grew into a sizeable industry prior to the utilization of modern development techniques, and therefore, has a great number of practices and beliefs based upon inappropriate past experience and hearsay. This then is the purpose of the seminar: To help the dredging industry move into the age of science by expounding the Basic Dredge Laws in simple understandable terms, expressing the relationship of each significant factor to dredge production. The seven basic laws are given, including equations and an explanation of each one.
