EVALUATION OF CONSTRUCTION METHODS FOR OFFSHORE AIRPORTS

This report presents a narrative summary and evaluations of existing and proposed offshore airports and related construction. Ranges of unit costs for construction of an offshore site, by the various construction methods, are compared. Methods of access are discussed, as well as unit costs for various access systems. On the basis of the studies and evaluations performed, it is concluded that the offshore airport is generally technically feasible but will normally cost more to construct than an onshore alternative.
