NORTH SEA WAVES WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO THEIR REFRACTION IN SHALLOW WATER
In a previous publication it was argued there are good grounds to represent a sea state by a spectrum. The present paper displays the full knowledge of Ceberena on the spectra of the North Sea. The extreme spectra of this sea of limited fetch are compared with the spectra of the open ocean. Moreover the statistical wave heights deduced from these spectra compare satisfactorily with the data obtained from the semisubmersible drilling platforms in the northern part and from the Belgian lightships in the southern part. On the other hand, as Ceberena owns some wave date in shallow water these data are compared with the deep water data.
