An outline of the electrical design objectives is presented. The electrical design is divided into basic electrical and automatic control designs. After a description of ALF's operation, the components of the basic electrical design and their location on the ALF site are presented. Similarly the design objectives for automatic control of ALF's transverse position are considered. Hardware and software aspects of the design are described. The control philosophy is based on a simple, reliable and safe control system at the basic level that does not depend on complex software. However, for the more complex requirement of transverse control a micro-processor control system allows easy and flexible re-programming. For the record of the covering entry see TRIS no 399524.
