BEHAVIOR OF CONCRETE FILLED STEEL TUBES--PART 3, BEAM-COLUMN MEMBERS

The results of tests on beam-column members are described. The ultimate capacity of beam-columns is nearly equal to the full-plastic bending moment and is independent of the strength of the concrete and the thickness of the steel tube. On the other hand, in calculating the horizontal displacement of the concrete-filled steel tube, only the flexural rigidity displacement of the steel tube alone need be taken into account, as the concrete and the steel tube do not act together under axial loads.
