MARINE CORROSION STUDIES: THE EFFECTS OF CU2O ANTIFOULING PAINT AND COUPLING TO A COPPER ALLOY ON THE CORROSION RESISTANCE OF 6AL-4V TITANIUM ALLOY IN SEAWATER

The 6Al-4V titanium alloy exhibited the expected excellent corrosion resistance in quiescent seawater; coating it with Cu2O-type antifouling paint or coupling to yellow brass had no deleterious effects on the titanium. The yellow brass, however, was subject to severe dealloying which was not completely eliminated by cathodic protection from a zinc anode. (Author)
