METHODS FOR SAMPLING AND TESTING OF LIGHTWEIGHT AGGREGATES FOR CONCRETE. PART 2. METRIC UNITS

BS 3681: PART 2: 1973 DEFINES LIGHTWEIGHT AGGREGATES AND DESCRIBES METHODS FOR THEIR SAMPLING AND TESTING FOR USE IN CONCRETE. LIGHTWEIGHT AGGREGATES HAVE BULK DENSITIES 1200 AND 950 KG/CU.M FOR FINE AND COARSE AGGREGATES RESPECTIVELY. OBTAINING A SAMPLE OF AGGREGATE FROM UNIFORM OR NON UNIFORM BULK, AND FROM BAGS IS DESCRIBED. METHODS FOR DETERMINING BULK DENSITY, SIEVE ANALYSIS, APPARENT SPECIFIC GRAVITY, SULPHATE CONTENT, VOLATILE MATTER, AND PREPARATION OF SAMPLES ARE SHOWN. RESULTS OF THE LAST FOUR TESTS ARE REPORTED AND DISCUSSED. /TRRL/
