SUPERPLASTICIZED CONCRETE USING REFINED LIGNOSULFONATE AND ITS ACTION MECHANISM

Superplasticized concrete using refined lignosulfonate shows less time-dependent change in slump compared with the case of using formaldehyde condensate of beta-naphthalene sulfonate. This agrees in trend with strength ratios of difference spectra according to the ft-ir method and time-dependent changes in zeta-potential, and is related with early-age hydration of cement. Consequently, the loss of superplasticizer from particle surfaces due to hydration of cement may be considered as one factor for slump loss.(a) (Author/TRRL)
