GUIDELINES FOR DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF CONCRETE PAVEMENTS

RETNINGSLINIER FOR UDFOERELSE AF BETONBELAEGNINGER

Guidelines for design and construction of concrete pavements. Concrete roads have been constructed in Denmark periodically up till 1970, when failures in durability caused by frost/thaw action and deicing salt were discovered. However, the test road established in 1976 shows good performance, and new test methods for predicting durability have been developed. The present report states some general requirements concerning: concrete -choice of aggregates, test of additives and mix design. Construction -joint design, casting and curing. Preliminary testing - sand, stones, concrete, structure etc. Final quality control -slab thickness, air-entraining and distribution, structure of the concrete. It is recommended that the final quality control should be carried out on cores from the pavement. (TRRL)
