TIME TO LINE CROSSINGS: A NEW METHOD TO DESCRIBE DRIVING BEHAVIOUR

TLC: EEN NIEUWE METHODE OM RIJGEDRAG TE BESCHRIJVEN

The time-to-line crossing or tlc-concept is developed. With this method the vehicle motion in the time-domain is described by which it is possible to consider in an integrated manner the lateral vehicle position, the driving speed and the steering behaviour of the driver. The tlc-concept is based on a preview-predictor model. In this experimental research the influence of the steering behaviour of the driver on the lateral position of the car is studied. With the tlc-concept the insight can be increased into the driving and vision-strategy of car drivers. (TRRL)
