The Kylesku Bridge project is described in detail. The sequence of operations are outlined beginning with the formation of the hollow sectioned pier legs which form a fixed saddle support for the deck. After completing the deck above the legs the first 20 m of deck at each end of the main span was constructed using the incremental cantilever technique and the success of a travelling gantry built specifically for the job is described. The centre section was precast on the south bank, transported by barge and lifted into position by jacks and a detailed explanation of its construction and the load-out operation is given. A two week period was then allowed to cast the closing "stitches". Work on guard rails, services and surfacing was then carried out and the project was completed ahead of schedule. (TRRL)
