TEST ROAD AT HOELOE 1983. FOLLOW-UP OF CRUSHED ROCK PAVEMENT. 1. CONSTRUCTION

PROVVAEG VID HOELOE 1983. OBSERVATIONSSTRAECKOR MED BERGOEVERBYGGNAD. 1. BYGGNADSRAPPORT

Test stretches of road with crushed rock pavement have been constructed. The aim is to find out the required thickness of a bituminous roadbase to obtain an acceptable bearing capacity when the sub-base is not grouted. One of the stretches is used as reference with grouted sub-base and 150 kg/m2 bituminous gravel. In three of the stretches the sub-base is not grouted. 110, 150 and 200 kg/m2 bituminous gravel is used respectively. Follow-up studies will be made by continuous falling weight deflectometer tests and profile measurements using equipment like CHOLE and primal. In this report results from site investigations and materials controls are presented, and a description of the construction and design of the stretches is given. (TRRL)
