RESISTANCE OF LAMINATED ELASTOMER BRIDGE BEARING PADS TO THE ACTION OF OILS
RESISTANCE DES APPAREILS D'APPUI EN ELASTOMERE FRETTE A L'ACTION DES HUILES
The study of the resistance of laminated elastomer bridge bearing pads to the action of oils, and more especially formwork oils, is part of the efforts made over the past few years to improve the durability of bearing pads of this type by taking adequate preventive measures. Many makes and compositions of oils are used on construction sites. This article is mainly intended to make manufacturers aware of the problem and urge them to make their products more resistant to the action of oils. The authors also show the need to take this parameter into account in drawing up future regulations concerning bearing pads by prohibiting the use of over-aggressive oils and requiring effective sealing of formwork for cast-in-situ constructions.
