STRUCTURAL USES OF EPOXY RESIN ADHESIVES

This report is concerned with the performance and use of epoxy resin materials in conjunction with reinforced concrete. After reviewing basic epoxy resin chemistry, the handling and usage of epoxy resins and the factors affecting joint performance are discussed. Experimental work carried out by Batchelar, Ip, and Clifton on the epoxy resin materials themselves, concrete to concrete bonding, and concrete to steel (pull out) tests, is summarised and discussed with a view to recommending suitable tests and minimum levels of performance to be expected. Suggestions are made regarding suitable specifications for the use of epoxy resins. (TRRL)
