THE STRENGTH OF `PERFECT SAMPLES' OF BOMBAY MARINE CLAY

The so-called undisturbed samples obtained by thin walled tube samplers from a bore hole are not truly undisturbed. In order to determine the in-situ shear strength of marine clay soil from Thana Creak Bridge site, the two methods suggested by Ladd and Lambe (1963) were utilized. It was found that the shear strengths of perfect samples as obtained by these two methods are comparable to each other and are also almost the same as obtained by field vane shear test. (TRRL)
