WIND INFLUENCE ON KESSOCK BRIDGE

Kessock Bridge carries the A9 dual carriageway at high level across the Beauly Firth at Inverness, Scotland. Its 22 metre wide orthotropic steel deck is 1052 metres long with a 240 metre harp cabled navigation span. This paper describes wind induced vibrations of the steel deck bridge and the measures adopted to keep the oscillations within acceptable limits. (TRRL)
