MAGLEV RAILWAY BERLIN CURRENT STATE OF THE PROJECT

The City of Berlin, as a research and development project, is constructing a 1.6-km elevated magnetic levitation system which is to be part of the local transit operation, connecting the Kulturforum and Tiergarten with a nearby rapid transit station. Under full automatic operation, the four cars will normally run as two 2-car trains, but the ability to operate longer trains will be tested. The staged development of this project, which is to open for revenue service in 1987, is described along with technical data and diagrams.
