INTEGRATION OF A METRO STATION. PART I. TRAFFIC ENGINEERING STUDY

STATIONSINTEGRATIE. DEEL I. HET VERKEERSKUNDIG ONDERZOEK

The main purpose of the project is to research and to design a good transit station in a suburb of Rotterdam between metro and bus and other modes of transport to and from the station such as car, bicycle and walking. About 9000 passengers per day use the metro station Hoogvliet as the place at which they change transport. The station is not optimally designed and the walking distances between the metro station and the bus station are too large. The capacity during peak hours is too small, some provisions are duplicated (information points) and other provisions are not available (waiting rooms). In this part emphasis is laid on traffic engineering. See also IRRD 282044 and 282045. (TRRL)
