LEAD IN PETROL AND HEALTH HAZARDS. A LITERATURE SURVEY

HAELSOEFFEKTER AV BLY I BENSIN. EN LITTERATUROEVERSIKT

This literature study treats the emission, pathways and uptake of lead and the adverse health effects of inorganic and organic lead. Lead in petrol contributes significantly to the total lead amount found in the body, but there are no data today that can serve as a basis for quantifying this increment. In view of the serious adverse effects of lead on health, the uncertainty as to the dose levels at which these can occur and the relatively small safety factors for some persons, it is important to reduce even further the relatively low levels prevailing today.
