THE INFLUENCE OF NOISE BARRIERS ON NOISE LEVELS

MELUESTEIDEN VAIKUTUS MELUTASOIHIN KEHA I:N VARRELLA TAPIOLASSA

To study the effect of the barriers, and the noise situation, noise level measurements were made before and after the barriers were built. The measurements were made with a precision sound level meter connected to a flatbed plotter. Observations were made in 5 cross sections, altogether at 9 points. The noise levels varied at the observation points from 48.6 to 61.2 db(a) before the barriers were built and from 45.6 to 61.4 db(a) after they were built. In spite of the changed traffic situation, the noise levels have clearly decreased since the barriers were built. (TRRL)
