IMPROVING ACCESS TO CITY OF NOTTINGHAM TRANSPORT BUS SERVICES

This report describes research which has been undertaken with consultation into the difficulties which people encounter in the use of the existing network of commercial bus services. It was found that for people confined to wheelchairs, there is already a provision of a social transport system in the form of specially adapted vehicles operated by the county council, supported by voluntary groups. Some fifty areas were identified as having scope for improvement and development. The report discusses the design of existing buses in the fleet which has evolved over a number of years, and highlights the improvements made which will be incorporated in new designs. (TRRL)
