IN SITU INVESTIGATIONS INTO ROCK DEFORMABILITY, HARDNESS AND STRESS

TERENSKA ISPITIVANJA DEFORMABILNOSTI, CVRSTOCA I NAPONSKIH STANJA U STENSKIM MASAMA

The paper presents some basic methods of in-situ rock investigations. The method of hydraulic tension, test chamber, hydraulic cushion, radial press and drilling extensometer are presented. The last three originate from the "Jaroslav Cerni" Institute while the others wre modified in the Institute. To measure the elastic characteristics, the seismic refraction method, seismic radiation method and micro-seismic testing with the use of a hydraulic cushion are presented. Among mechanical strength tests, shear in situ investigations performed along the cracks are described. Regarding stress, details are given of the Oberti's method form the US Bureau of Reclamation, the central borehole method developed at the "Electricite de France", the Tinclin's method of stress-releasing by means of drilling around the borehole core, as used in the "J. Cerni" Institute, and dynamic stress investigation around a tunnel opening according to Grujic and Kujundzic. For the covering abstract see TRIS 392632. (TRRL)
