CONTROLLING CORROSION BY STRATEGIC PLANNING
An improved, accelerated test method which can be used to determine the resistance of materials and protective coatings to a combined salt/industrial atmosphere is described. The paper describes how to minimize production costs which result from rejected parts, production delays, and expensive rework operations which are the result of in-process corrosion damage. Some typical problems such as rusty stainless steel and the disintegration of parts during a normal cleaning operation are described.
