Since trip computers offer such a great variety of possible features, there will probably never be two identical computers. In the first instance, differentiation has to be made between trip computers performing primarily indicating functions and those operating in a dialogue mode, i.e. requiring that the driver enter additional data such as distance and time related or other target data when he desires specific information. This paper describes the straightforward concept of a trip computer that does without keyboard and dialogue as recently developed for Volkswagen by the VOD company. (Author/TRRL)
