EXPRESSWAY REBUILT UNDER 160,000 ADT
In the 219 days that Joint Venturers Leininger/Allied/Milburn/Anderson expect to take to rehabilitate Chicago's Eisenhower Expressway, their men and machines will have to contend with more than 35,000,000 vehicles. This busy highway averages 140,000 cars and 20,000 trucks a day, according to the Illinois Department of Highways. Despite the requirement they maintain this full load, the JVs expect to earn a $300,000 early completion bonus for finishing 10 days ahead of their 229-day scheduled deadline. Careful planning and the production capacity of a Pioneer recycling crushing plant, three Barber-Greene Dynaplanes and two Barber-Greene finishers are helping to attain this remarkable record.
