STRESS ANALYSIS OF THE OPENINGS IN THE 0-1 DECK OF AGEH HYDROFOIL
The 0-1 deck of the research hydrofoil PLAINVIEW (AGEH-1) was investigated to determine the stress concentrations around the various openings in that deck. This was accomplished by (a) photoelastically testing a model of the 0-1 deck containing all the major openings and (b) analytically predicting the stresses by idealizing the structure. This report identifies the regions of high stress on the deck and recommends positions for prototype instrumentation. Also included are comments on the modifications regarding the placement of various openings affecting possible stress reductions.
